Welcome to VeganWiki!
From VeganWiki
The purpose of this wiki is to catalog the many products and ingredients that are ambiguously vegan. We all know that carrots are vegan whereas steak is not. Glycerin is usually out, sugar is iffy, and who even knows what calcium sorbate is. This is to keep track of the calcium sorbates of the world, and the products where, although the ingredients just say "vegan", a quick correspondence with the company shed some light on the source of the glycerin.
Feel free to add any item you think might be useful, whether or not it's vegan. If you just learned your favorite food contains animal bits, chances are there are other vegans out there consuming it who don't know. Items I have in mind include ingredients, products and company correspondence; feel free to add anything that might be relevant whether or not it's included in that list. I'd rather have an irrelevant item listed here, than a relevant item missing.
Many a time have I stood in a supermarket with one can of beans in each hand wondering if I could save 55 cents by purchasing the one that contains sdaeajasdfdea, or if sdaeajasdfdea is an animal product. This wiki is my attempt to minimize those moments by having a resource I trust that I can just pull up on my phone and have a quick answer. My goal is to make my life as a vegan easier, and I hope it can also help other people who've found themselves in similar conundrums.
If you'd like to contribute, please read the Adding an item to this wiki page before you get started. Unfortunately, due to the large quantity of spam, I disabled anonymous editing. Fortunately, signing up for an account is easy, you don't even have to give it a legitimate e-mail address (but if you do, then it can e-mail you a new password if you forget yours).
